Inn on the Lake
A design feasibility project for extensions to this large hotel to provide fourteen additional bedrooms, a function suite to accommodate 150 guests, and a leisure suite including a swimming pool. The bedroom and function suite extensions were designed as a contemporary contrast to the mass of the existing building, whilst complementing the overall form. In order to minimise the potential impact of the extensions in such a sensitive area, the leisure facility was designed as a semi-underground structure seen as a green open space when viewed from the surrounding fells, whilst incorporating all of the environmental benefits of earth-sheltering.
